Our informative and interactive ‘Days out in East Sussex’ map is a useful tool to help you plan tailor-made days out in 1066 country and the surrounding areas. We are lucky to be surrounded by beautiful and varied countryside, picturesque towns and villages and a myriad of fantastic attractions. You can use the map in a number of ways. You can opt to look at all of the categories of attractions in our main map, or you can choose to filter the attractions shown by unticking the categories that you don’t want to appear on the map. If you hover your mouse over a symbol on the map, the name will be highlighted in the left-hand menu. You can also click on the symbol and read a description of the attraction, look at some photos and also click through to their website for more information.
The categories are:
Parks, gardens and woodlands – get out and about in the great outdoors, after finding an area of natural beauty near to you, or travel further afield for that perfect picnic or walking spot.
Beaches and seafront attractions – explore our spectacular coastline with our guide to local beaches and promenade attractions.
Historical or cultural days out – unsurprisingly, 1066 country boasts a lot of historical houses, castles and attractions. We’ve also profiled local towns who are renowned for their historical character and wealth of cultural and historic gems.
Eat and drink – we’ve focussed on the towns of Battle, Bexhill, Rye and Eastbourne, and picked out the top-rated eateries based on customer reviews.
If you think we’ve missed an attraction, that should be on the map, please let us know, and we’ll do our best to get it added.
